Makes Your House
the shearwater kitchen
This contemporary bespoke shaker kitchen was designed for a client who was renovating a seventies house in Crockerton, Wiltshire. We designed the extension and all of the custom furniture so they worked together. the brief was to create a modern, open plan, family space that would become the heart of the home.

The main feature of this room was the bespoke kitchen island. This was designed to be the central workspace; the induction hob sits in the middle with an integrated flip-top power socket in the handmade oak worktop to create a practical zone for cooking and baking. The tall units at the back of the space house an integrated fridge, drinks cupboard, oven and larder. The large belfast sink sits in a run of cabinets with a built-in dishwasher, integrated bin and clever pull out storage baskets. The kitchen dresser was designed to look more like a freestanding piece of furniture. It houses the microwave, kettle, coffee machine and toaster. It also has an oak plate rack and plenty of storage. The tiles are from Fired Earth and were chosen by us to complement the warm pink and plum tones of the kitchen cabinets.
The kitchen design process started in March, as soon as the client had an offer accepted on the house. We drew up designs and found a contractor to undertake the project. The work on the kitchen extension started in May 2018 and the handmade kitchen was completed by the end of August, when the clients were due to move in. We worked to a tight deadline and made sure that the project stayed within the agreed budget, offsetting any cost to the client from hiring us to project manage the build.
This bepsoke bathroom for a private client in Somerset was completed in 2015. It was published in Ideal Home magazine in October 2015. The client wanted a traditional space that was also bright and welcoming. Storage was very important so we worked together to create a range of handmade bathroom cabinets that suited their needs.

The client first came to us wanting a bespoke vanity unit that was designed to have rows of small drawers. They had seen something similar in a magazine but wanted it to be handmade to fit their space and to suit their style. They had chosen some counter top mounted basins which we used as a starting point for the design. The project then expanded as they required bespoke cabinets for linens, towels and other bathroom clutter. We suggested the dresser style storage along the back wall which then also allowed them to have a hidden toilet cistern and mirrored doors above. The cabinet design is a traditional shaker style with tongue and groove paneling. They are painted in Farrow and Ball Matchstick which is a lovely warm neutral tone. We helped the client choose the Fired Earth Subway tiles and the Amtico flooring. These added a more contemporary style and complemented the warmer tones of the walls and furniture.
Create your own treasured spacesInspirational spaces come in all shapes and sizes. A bespoke kitchen does not need to be huge or expensive to be worthy of the pages of a magazine. Real homes that are designed and made to suit real lives are always the most interesting. Built in cabinets can elevate a room, create a focal point and be fantastic storage. We aim to provide furniture that is excellent value for money, reflects you and your style and is completely unique.
